GAZO at Les Ardentes on July 4!
A rapper is, above all, a voice. Gazo’s voice reflects his character: hoarse, deep, and threatening. It is also one of the most prominent voices of the French drill wave, a rap subgenre that swept through France in 2020, inspiring a wave of young rappers trying to make a name for themselves.
With his latest mixtape KMT, certified triple platinum, Gazo proves he is far from a beginner. For fifteen years, rap has shaped his life and that of his friends, his "gazos" as he calls them, with whom he has been roaming the streets of Saint-Denis since his early adolescence.
Today, Gazo is 30 years old, and his entire past haunts his music. What also stands out is his ease and uniqueness, both acquired by honing his technique. Practicing different rap schools has allowed him to open up new sonic perspectives and be more musically free. While drill is his music of choice, Gazo is also obsessed with melody, with all the perfectionism and craftsmanship that this implies.
His album APOCALYPSE, released on November 29th, is his first album in which the artist experiments with new sounds, marking a musical evolution where he explores a multitude of new styles in which he was not expected, such as electro, sexy drill, dance, or afro.
A project he himself describes as "make or break" and "decisive," which should allow him to confirm his status as an established artist on the French music scene.
