Jersey is the new kid on the block of drill, one of the most violent categories of rap. The drill is characterized by its shocking verses, dark, dramatic and violent aesthetic, and its origins between the South Side of Chicago and London in the early 2010s.
Today, it's time for the Jersey drill, a cross between the drill and the club samples we all know. It's THE musical phenomenon of the last year. For a few months, a lot of artists have been carried away by the wave and have released danceable prods with feverish verses: Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Drake or Headie One.
Having gone back and forth between the U.S. and England, the Jersey drill has also swept everything in France. Gambi, Zola or SCH have been there but let's not forget the new darlings of the French Jersey scene Favé and the one and only Kerchak who will be there on July 7 and 8 at Les Ardentes.
