Paul Kalkbrenner is one of the symbolic figures of the Berlin electronic scene. Respected producer and DJ of Ellen Alien's label Bpitch Control for around 10 years, this year we discovered another side to Kalkbrenner's talent in Hannes Stöhr's film, "Berlin Calling" the diary of nocturnal Berlin life, in which he plays the main role of a DJ gradually lapsing into an excess of drugs. As main actor in the film, Paul Kalkbrenner was naturally singed up for the soundtrack. Made up of reworked classics and new material, the record has turned out to be one of his best and especially one of the best electronic music records released in years. A perfect mix of melancholic melodies and frenzied rhythms that Kalkbrenner will deliver live at the Ardentes.
